In my recent haul which you can find here; I mentioned that I would be reviewing some of the items I’ve purchased. This Australis pigmented lip gloss was on the top of my list to try. My lips have been chapping so much now that we’re closer to winter here in New Zealand hence why I want to try more “gloss” products then “mattes”. The Luxe Lips range is inspired by the Velourlips line that Australis put out previously. As per the website you can pair it with the Velourlips to provide a longer coverage or wear on it’s own. There are only a few shades which include: Nth Shore, Eye-Full-Tower, Sth Beach, Big-Ben-Efits, Good-Times & At-Lantis with some shades that look almost similar. The formula includes Vitamin E, Rose Hip Oil & Apple Seed Oil which are all meant to be amazing for you.
Most lip products are very matte and drying so I wanted to discover more hydrating products this year.
I’m not a huge fan of packaging and don’t recognise it for a lot of products. I’d rather look at the actual product and what it does for me. But, I will admit that I was very impressed with how this was packaged. The lip gloss comes in your typical clear round bottle. It is however, slightly more thick almost like the L.A Girl Liquid Matte Lipsticks. You can clearly see the colour of the lip gloss which is handy. I adore the tip that opens up the applicator. It is black with a 3D sort of effect which makes the lip gloss edgy. I haven’t seen a lot of lip products with designs like this.
Here comes the bad news. I’ll tell you what, I only tried the lip gloss once and not even on my whole lip properly. After opening up the applicator I noticed how incredibly thick the formula was even for a lip gloss. It was quite hard to pull the applicator from the bottle itself. I dabbed a little on to my lips and rubbed my lips together and it almost felt like I was playing with glue. Secondly, the colour wasn’t great – not good for people with medium to dark skin tones at least which is partly my fault. I’m sure it’ll look amazing on people with a lighter skin tone. There isn’t any sort of smell but just too sticky for a gloss.
Overall, I won’t be purchasing any other products from this line in particular. I’m not throwing any shade towards the brand itself but this product for me did not work at all. Ive tried many other products from Australis which I’ve loved but the Luxe Lips was a complete let down.
Have you tried this line or this brand before?
